Canvas on demand

I'm always on the lookout for services that you can pay in Canadian funds. One that can accept uploads and take orders online. PhotoPopArt.com offers this.

Plus you get free shipping if you order more than one print or pay a flat fee of 14.00 dollars. They also guarantee their work.

You also have the option of getting proofs by email to see what the canvas will look like before they actually print.

Their site is well worth a visit.

Rainbow Sorbet Floribunda Rose

Floribunda Rose

Found a photo of a Rainbow Sorbet on Better Homes and Gardens.
All-America Rose Selections 1970s-2000s
On this photo it looks like a flat single bloom.
If you compare this photo with the one I have in my Encyclopedia, you will see a difference.

If you visit the All American Rose Selection site, the Rainbow Sorbet is described as cuplike and has a 15 to 18 petal count.
Mine bloomed more than once last year even though it was planted in late June.
Every bloom had at least 15 petals.
So why does the bloom in this photo have only 5 petals?

New Millenium Delphium

A photo of the New Zealand Hybrid is now in the Perennial section. Links to the breeders, Dowdeswell's Delphinium Ltd was also added. They have a few albums that are well worth visiting. Plus growing information and updates. The site is very easy to navigate. Seeds can be ordered directly from them.

Artisteer News

The new Artisteer 2.4 for Windows Beta can now be downloaded. This version supports vertical menus. Something I missed in the previous version. I already found a few other new features that are going to be very useful. This will make updating templates more fun.

The Contents covers all of my sites, galleries and blogs.
A link to a Terms of Use was also added in the footer.

Creating a Contents manually is a lot of work but well worth the time.
But everything needs to be tested.

Pine Tree as Postcard

Postcards are no longer available

I had Pine Tree in Shadow printed on postcards.
The original image was a bit flat.
With Topaz Detail I managed to bring out the best part of the scene with the Dynamic Range Equalization preset.
The difference is amazing.

I will send this postcard as a member of Postcrossing
Today I've posted Fall at the Cottage to Netherlands.

About page

Uploaded a new About page yesterday. I removed some of the graphics supplied by Artisteer. Saves me lots of time coding.

The Table of Content will be updated this week-end. It will be divided in pages. Adding an extra CSS file helped make more changes to the basic template.

An index is supplied by the Free Find search engine. It includes lots of pages that are not part of my site. Creating my own Table of Content gave me a chance to review the whole site. Changes are being made where needed. I do all of this work in Aptana Studio

New start page

I've been trying to find a way to unite all of my sites, blogs and galleries. One of my main problems was finding a decent search engine. Google is great, but I needed something that would go deeper.

Years ago, on a different server, I used one called FreeFind search engine I was still new to the internet and used just the basics. Now I'm taking advantage of many of their features.

With the search box on the Start page you can find exactly what you need. An index and sitemap will be added soon. These will give you a better idea of what to expect.

Post Crossing

I'm joining Postcrossing This will be the first card I'll send out. I'll Tweet the results.

Did you know that they sell frames for postcards. At Bags Unlimited the postcard frames lets you view the front and back. They also have sleeves, storage boxes and more. Great idea.

The photo used to make this postcard was taken in Val des Monts, Quebec last fall. I enhanced the photo with Topaz Labs I just got an upgrade to Topaz Detail 2, it's great.

In the Gallery I have another photo I enhanced with Topaz Labs The original photo was taken by the cat's owner, who got a print as a gift and she loved it.

File Format for Printing - Photo.net Digital Darkroom Forum

Shooting great photos is the first step. Getting the best print is another. I found this article very interesting. I needed to know which file format is best. I test on my own printer but I also have prints done by pros. So I need to learn how best to prepare my file before uploading it. This article answered several of my questions.
